The X2 MSA was publicly announced on July 22nd 2002 and the first revision of the document is posted below.

X2 uses identical operating guidelines to the XENPAK MSA, with only names and references changed. You can download these guidelines below.

Applications to join the X2 MSA group are welcomed from vendors of optical transceivers who want to build X2 modules and to be involved in X2s ongoing development. For further details on how to apply contact info@x2msa.org.

Applications to Sponsor the X2 MSA are welcomed from vendors of networking equipment who want to guide X2's ongoing development.

Electrically, X2 is compatible with the XENPAK MSA. X2 uses the same Tyco Electronics-designed, 70-pin electrical connector as XENPAK supporting the four wire XAUI (10-gigabit attachment unit interface). X2 also will support the OIF SFI4_P2 interfaces and serial electrical interfaces as they emerge.
